Fairly recently I've started playing with a guy who seems to bring out the very best in my playing. He and I did a short stint a few weeks back at a local pub and people were coming inside off the verandahs to see who was playing.
Why is it that you can play even identical numbers with someone else and they are, at best, OK?
I can partly answer my own question by saying that this guy knows exactly what he wants from me and knows how to convey that. He is big on feel rather than technical expertise, however, he is certainly a very competent guitarist. Add to that, the guy appears to not have an extended ego and is fun to be around, so I'm looking forward to when we are actually gigging.

Perhaps it is that you are having fun, and it shows that is atracting the audience.

It's rare to find someone who is connected the way you are. I'm lucky to have two different duo partners who click with me, and me with them, at depth. We don't do everything perfect, not even the same way twice, but by and large we have good sessions whether it's rehearse or out live.
