I just purchased a Digitech RP255 because it seems like a lot of bang for the buck. I currently use a Harp Commander Four and assumed that I could just put this in the effects loop and simply use the various reverb, delay, rotary, etc. However, now that I have it I'm not sure that's possible. I'd love to just turn off all of the tone/amp modellers and just use the effects. Can some of you Digitech users weigh in on this.
Also, I plan to buy Richard Hunter's next set of patches which are scheduled to come out soon. Will they help me achieve my desired effect?
Thanks in advance,
Jay

I have the rp155 and love it,It was more suited for my bugdet,I put the Hunter harmonica patches on,it and love them,Even used in a studio once and live a couple times ,just hook it to the PA and your set,The Hunter patches are a must for harp, they work great.

I use mine for guitar as much as anything,I pulled the last 10 of the 50 that Hunter had for the rp155,and programed 10 for guitar,On channells 40 up,and then 51 to 100 ,are guitar patches ,So that left me alot of room for both,
I think the Rp255 has more avaible patches than the rp 155,

And dont get me started with the 20 second loop on the thing it has opened up all kinds of options for a one man band leads.

I love the rp units,I had a Rp 6 about 20 years ago and payed around 300 bucks.

Now you can get a rp 155 for $99 and it does alot more and sounds better,

But for harmonica the Hunter patch set is a must, very inexspensive and turns the thing into a real nice sounding setup

Richard Hunter is a regular contributer to Harp-L. If you post your question there he'll probably answer it himself.

I appreciate the feedback. Just waiting for v.16 to come out before I buy the patches. Is there a way to use only the effects without the amp modellers? I just want to use the effect in front of my amp or in the effects loop.

If I was you I wouldn't wait for the new patches I would order now and not only get the new patches when he releases them next month but you get all of the old patches as well. Richard is retiring all of the old patches and only sending the new (30-35) patches when the new version is ready. I have the 355 set and there is over 100 patches included and some that I like I don't see available with the new patch set. The price is the same either way.

Jay, I think you'll really enjoy the pedal. The patch Set really get ya started off in the right direction. When the new set comes out next month you'll be an expert! ;)

Cool! Got the patches. I'm a bit of a technophobe but got the patches loaded with no more trouble than I have with any other computer related issue. LOL
This is big fun. I was happily surprised to find that Richard set up so many effects without amp modelling because I'm very happy with my Harp Commander Four tone and the ability to change it on the fly. I'm using the Digitech RP255 in the effects loop of my Harp Commander Four with a hot CM bullet. It sounds great....at least in my music room. I'll have to see what it sounds like at rehearsal. My experience is that rigs that sound great at home aren't always great on stage but I think this will be cool. Way overkill on patches for me but I just need to sort out which ones I'll use. I want to replace a couple with additional rotary speaker effects. I want to create some patches with rotary and pitch shifter to emulate an organ...well...sort of...
I dig it that everything I need for a gig goes in one Pelican case [except my mic stand when I need to take one]. However, next I'm plugging into my 1960 Brown Concert. That should sound awesome!
Thanks for the support everyone,
Jay

This video Richard also put on his website that features Steve Baker using a CR microphone Plugged into a RP255 than directly to PA. It makes you wonder if anything else is really necessary.

@9000, iirc there are some cool effect patches in the hunter harp setup that sound very much like an organ. Search around a bit you might find he already has what your looking for.
