Ok -I need a mic for live performance in a situation where I switch from drums to harp. most songs I am playing drums but 3 or 4 songs a set I will switch to harp. There is usually no sound man so everything needs to be set and forget. After I do my harp/vocal numbers I set the mike by the bass drum to mic that
I have kinda narrowed it down to SM545 or Audix Fireball V 545 cause I know they sound great and can go high z and Audix cause they make great drum mics and the volume switch is appealing. What you guys think?

Well you sure don't want to mic a bass drum with an Audix Fireball, so get the 545.

I have both (although 545 is broken now). Shure 545 have more bass, volume and gives more low frequency distortion. While Audix Fireball V is more clear, bright, less feedback prone. Usually if I play solo gig I get SM57 or 545 to get fatter tone. If I'm playing at lud jam I get Fireball V to hear myself better in jam situation. ---------- Excuse my bad English. Went with the 545-MF had it for $89 and the High z option is appealing. BTW Amazon has the FireballV for $115. $40 cheaper than anybody else out there.
