Thanks for posting that, Frank. My wife injured her voice through improper breathing, and went to a famous voice-doctor-to-the-stars in Toronto. Following diagnosis she did some some further treatments with a vocal therapist. This "bubbling" technique is one of the exercises she was given.

Motor boating involves someone else and is much more fun...

I do lip bubbles/lip trills everyday as a warmup before my vocal exercises and as a cooldown afterwards. I also do tongue trills. Lip bubbles and tongue trills are also good for loosening up any mucus on the vocal folds (cords) especially when done in the shower. They also aid in learning to control air release/flow and governing support. "BUT" there are those who believe that you eventually outgrow them and they are only beneficial to beginners. True or false, I wouldn't know :)

Funny.
But think growling works better in blues. At least more expressive and emotional.

"motorboating" involves the moving of the head, too.
