I have been invited by my good friend Tas Cru, to sit in with him at the Rum Boogie on Beale Street, Jan. 27th 28th and 29th, same week as the IBC! I am very excited as this will be my first trip to Memphis, but also to be able to play while I'm there, it still feels a little surreal! If you are in the area I hope you'll come say hi, it's nice to put faces with names (or usernames as the case may be, haha). It seems like there was someone from the group that is going to be competing at the IBC.
Any suggestions as to what I should see or do while I'm there, other than just soak up as much music as possible?
Hey guys, this is all great to know. I'm going to start another thread about the IBCs. I wasn't planning to come up this year, but I just might to that. Please re-post your info in the new thread.
@Mathieau I will be there performing pre-IBC, not actually competing. I would love to catch your set, let me know when and where. ---------- Electric Witness Facebook
Electricwitness, that is a great gig. I was in Memphis for the IBC last year and hung at the Rum Boogie. The place was packed and I saw bands like Kilborn Alley and Steepwater and Bob Margolin.
Check the room next door - Mr. Handy's Blues Hall - for great bands and daytime jams. BB Kings is down the street. Great blues clubs all along Beale Street but Rum Boogie was my favorite.
