I'm proud to announce that Darrell Mansfield has joined the growing list of top pro endorsers of BlowsMeAway wood mics.

He will perform with it at NAMM on 1/26/13 in the Hohner booth. (Darrell is a Hohner endorsee). Here's what he says about this mic:

"My BlowsMeAway custom wood mic is the real Rolls Royce of harp mics. It's all about class and performance - light and tight with an amazing tone. A must buy. I can't wait to perform and record with it."

Darrell has played with everyone from Eddie Van Halen to Dweezil Zappa. He has something like 40 CD's out. If you don't know Darrell's music - check him out at DarrellMansfield.com

You can find a few more pics of his mic in my Customer Mics Photo Album on Facebook. (I just added them so they'll be at the bottom.)

Very cool, Greg! He was one of the few players I could find growing up who played gospel blues.

Love Darrell: Been listening for a few years know. Couple of his CDs have harp keys on them. He has a great signature high ( don't know how else to say it )dwiddle sound. Been working on a couple of his songs with my church praise team ! Won't You Walk With Me Jesus !!! Would love to hear Jason work with Darrell !

Darrell Loves to SCREECH the hell outta the harp - that's his "trade mark" harp playing style...He has a lot of cool, great music out there floating around the world :)

I´ve listend to him a bit over the years. He likes to do everything in 2 pos, which at times, makes things a bit awkward for him (e.g. All Along the Watchtower); and he´s not an OB´er as far as I have seen.

There are two trade mark licks that he uses in just about every song; I hear it already on an early cd that I have, recorded in the 70´s, I think: a very fast fluttering thing (at 3:35 in the video above, and later repeated several times); and this (supposedly?) blow-draw alteration on hole 7(?) (4:50). (No harp at hand right now so it´s from memory, but I seem to recall that it´s hole 7.)
That first isn´t so hard IIRC; but this blow-draw eludes me. At some point years ago I thought I had it down and found that it was NOT a blow/draw alteration but just the tongue working, but I´m not so sure.
Anyone who´s worked this thing out? It´s a great effect when used in moderation.

(I´d recommend starting the video at around the 2 min mark, unless you´re really interested in crappy jokes and ditto haircuts.)
