for Littoral , Garry and other 'heads' hiding at mbh. I can't resist playing along to this stuff. The Blues only takes me so far. Desolation Row (TOM THUMS BLUES ACTUALLY -DUH) from this past Wed. night at the Sweetwater. Less risky than jumping onstage. - but then again I'm way older and wiser now - HA!

It's always nice when someone fills in for PIG. Saw a local version of Lovelight last week with a harp player that blew past anything Pig coulda done on the harp, but they couldn't match Pig's vocals. ---------- Twitter ~ BossoBrewingCo Soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/bag-5 YouTube Channel: SummitPorter
yeah - as a presence , personallity and biker tude bluesman, no one could ever fill in for Pig. On harp he was pretty limited. I am much more influenced by 'the fat man' than I ever was by Pig - as far as playing goes. I did do this little tribute to him a while back though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkDFnrvkCPc&sns=em
mia culpa - it's not Desolation, duh - it's Tom Thumb's Blues ----------
When the going gets weird the weird turn pro. Yes, stepping out on harp playing different music is a lot of fun. I've been fearless about it, reggae, metal, space, pop, funk, anything. I've played a few national anthems over the PA for opening day little league or civic ribbon cutting events. Funerals are also an awesome venue. Harp has a solemn sound much like bagpipes, especially graveside. Doing justice to How Great Thou Art is a challenge but it really gets low. And I'll Fly Away is classic, outside and ringing loud and clear, straight up to the sky. All this said, I haven't found many bands that can cover the Dead so I haven't been able try much. I should more though. What comes to mind... How about Scarlet/Fire Loser Deal... I can hear it :)

@garry - I'm playing through my slighly mod-ed bassman ri with a JT30 mic, original mc 127 ceramic cartridge. I go throug a TC Electronics Flashback delay pedal set to 'lo fi' with a tap tempo set.** On this track I added a touch of a reverb plugin to it in Logic. I thought it helped it blend into the mix a bit better. The amp is close mic-ed with a Sennheiser 421 on the Eminence Lil Buddy 10" speaker Glad you like the sound.
Littoral - I play lots of other things besides blues too, - and like you, have played at a number of graveside's as well. Always intense.
I do a good bit of Dead jamming - but most of those buddies are in LA and Im in SF. We get together a number of times a year, - but I have yet to plug into a good local Dead influenced band. - That's why I resort to overdubbing on vintage Dead, or in this case, Further. Still hoping to make a better connection in that regard. Just playing on songs with more melody than your typical Blues is sooo nice to do - wether it's Dead material or not.
Scarlet/Fire Loser Deal... I've been working on getting the Scarlet guitar line down so I hit itwith the guitar players right on and don't just fake it through. Fire is cake to jam on with the two chord stucture - Loser and Deal pretty straight forward too. Loser is so pretty.
**played through a cheaper danecho at the Club Fox Blues jam the other night almost as good as the pricier tc flashback. the tc has a lot more options but you only need to find one good sound. ----------
