Here's a clip of the simply wonderful Annie Raines with John Sebastian. This to me is some or the finest blues harp I have heard in a long time.

Just watching Annie play is like a masterclass in itself. She puts so much emotion and intensity into each and every note that you can almost see the tears.

Her playing in this piece (and John Sebatians too) are bang on the money, no fancy frills, no technique over substance. Just pure unadulterated blues.

Very beautiful stuff. And one of the few examples of two blues harps not stepping on each others toes..

Darn nice!
She put on a workshop at my HARP group and I missed it because of my dumb job :( . Hearing this makes me regret it so much more. Perhaps she'll be back for another in 2010.

Dang it. Couldn't get the whole video to download so I went to Amazon to just buy the single "Orange Dude Blues". Listened to some of the samples and bought the whole thing. Good stuff. Her voice reminds me a little of Maria Muldaur from a few years ago. Oooh "Got To Fly" is playing right know, Bye.

Kingley, yeah, I can't post at BM, no one seems able or cares to fix it, so here I am. Great forum, a lot of action. Should have lurked over her long ago, had a chance to hang out with Adam a bit at the 2007 Bean, stand up guy and inspirational player. Mic workng out for you?
