Hi everyone .
I manage to fit promaster reedplates on a bluesmaster/harpmaster comb because i don't like metal combs . Do you think it's a god idea ?

I wouldn't like to presume to know the mind of god, but if you look deeply into your heart and pray a lot, I'm sure you'll arrive at the right answer.

I do believe that it is the promaster reed plates that one would buy - the only ones that are available - for replacing reed plates on the bluesmaster or harpmaster. Or - to refer to another, somewhat contentious thread on this forum - for the Delta Frost as well, although one can buy Delta Frost reed plates specifically.

My meditations and deep soul searching have led me to conclude that you are on safe ground, with both God and with your harps.

I have a Harpmaster with Promaster reed plates on it.
Care must be taken in assembly because the promaster reedplates have a slot for the edge of the coverplate to set in that is not needed for the Harpmaster.I believe the Bluesmaster is also a recessed reed plate that does not require the slot. I assemble the cover plate so it touches the comb, it is now sitting on the flat area of the reed plate in front of the slot and a good seal is achieved. If you get the cover plate edge over the slot, you get a leak as the Bluesmaster cover plate is not designed to drop into the slot like the Promaster design.

Thank you , and how is the sound ? is it easy to play ?

I have a Promaster in Bb that I like, but I do find the 2 and 3 draw bends tougher to get than on other harps. I took it apart and found evidence of leaking between the 2 and 3 chanbers. I put beeswax between the reed plates and the comb and the bends got much easier. I am noticing a slight odor after a couple of months so beswax may not be the best sealant. You would think a milled aluminum comb would be flat enough not to leak. I have not put the reedplates and the comb on a surface plate to see which is warped.

I think the Promaster lends itslef well melodic classical type playing.

Here is a samle, posted previously, of a tune I like to play on my Bb Promaster.

Yes, you can put promaster reedplates into Bluesmaster comb and covers.

You can also put Manji reedplates into a Bluesmaster comb and covers. I did this with key of A. It plays and sounds amazing!

Yes , i think it's leaky . It takes a lot of breath to work .For the same price as a bluesmaster , i could order a comb ( corian , dymondwood , acrylic or bamboo ), some people say these combs work well on a promaster .

Did somebody try to put a bamboo comb on a PROMASTER ?
Does this make the harp more responsive and playable ?
I like my SP20's much , but i like the shape of the promaster too , but , my god , it's too "hard" to play (too much breath ) .I wonder if a bamboo comb will help .
My first idea was to put the PM plates on a bluesmaster comb , but the plates have a groove for the covers .
Fitting a bamboo comb (HETRICK) could be a better way to go ....

I fitted a bluesmaster comb on the promaster .It's better .Bends on 2&3 draw are easier, seems like the harp is a little bit louder , too .
But these reeds are so...strong !
