I working through one of the beginner's pkgs, specifically the "bending the 4 hole draw." The second exercise is a series of rolling scoops. I can start from a bend and release, but can't get the articulation that Adam has in the video (or anything like it, obviously I don't expect to sound just like him, but I'm clearly not even headed towards his sound).
After playing around for a bit, I think I've isolated the problem to not knowing how to articulate the scoop note: my tongue is already moving back and forth for the scoop, so top-of-the-mouth Ta/Da doesn't feel possible. Any suggestions out there?
Best,
Rax

You're probably still "hunting" a bit to get to the bent note mouth position. Once you can "dial it in" automatically, you can add an articulation between the notes easily - for me my tongue hits the roof of my mouth, not too far behind my teeth, or I use a more glottal stop - in the back of my mouth where the "K" sound is made ---------- /Greg

Hi Greg,
Thanks for the insight. Indeed I'm still hunting, I've noticed I can achieve the bend easily in two very different ways: the first is cupping my tongue against the roof of my mouth, sort of like a spoon, the second is by pushing my tongue up towards the roof of my mouth (one of the techniques Adam listed): the quality of the tone is different, of course, but I'm not really sure which one is better in the long run. I'll try the glottal stop approach.
Cheers,
Rax
