How do you know when you are it right? You know stuff that works. I do read music, do not understand a lot the theory. I have played a few times with a band, just a few times. I have had people say I did good, but I still wonder " how do you know you are getting it right?" How do you know that what you play is working with the music?

Record yourself and play it back the next morning, when you're sober.
That's my method. It works pretty well.

When people ask you to play for them. I don't mean to play with them, I mean for them, cause the want to listen. ---------- Sun, sun, sun Burn, burn, burn Soon, soon, soon Moon, moon, moon

You know you're close when you can step out from behind the chicken wire.

I was asked up to do a little blues jam with a band the other night. I think I did ok. I know I looked nervous, but I think I played ok. Still I wonder. I want to feel like I was dead on good. Like I said I do not read music just played from the heart.

You've got it right when
...people don't leave the room when you play. ...someone asks you to teach them harp. ...dogs don't bark when you play. ...you sit in with a band and they ask you to remain on stage.

I know I am doing good when stage mates raise an eyebrow and smile, and encourage me to take another solo. ---------- http://www.reverbnation.com/jawboneandjolene

I'll pile on with Adam and Kingley. What you think you hear when you're playing is not always what the playback reveals. It's a tool that I certainly do not use often enough.
