X-Reed Harmonicas has launched a new service to fit our exclusive OverValve Plate to customers' existing SUB30s. The first photos of the OverValve Plate and all the info are in the video:
@ Boris: The OverValve Plate doesn't affect the tone of the harp when you're playing, but it does have a small effect of reducing the after-vibrations of the reeds when you stop, the 'ring' you hear on an un-valved harp.
That's not noticeable if you're amplified, as electronic reverb or delay takes care of it. But acoustically the 'after-ring' is marginally reduced compared to a traditional harp.
But when you weigh up the costs/benefits of installing it or not on the SUB30, we're convinced anyone who tries it will agree the OverValve Plate is overwhelmingly on the positive side.
Even as its key range expands, I'm sure most players who buy the SUB30 will choose to keep their traditional harps for that 'old-time' sound. But when they need the extra bends and chromatic ability of the SUB30, adding the OverValve Plate will allow them to play it with a lot more power and abandon than before.
