I bet they sound great but for $500 you can get a HarpGear. Brian makes the best amps and he is just a great guy.

My guitar player uses a "little Dawg" amp..it is the loudest, tonemonster I've ever heard for minimal wattage. The guy who builds them also builds harp amps, but not sure what he calls them.

I use a Fat Dog model 2A with 2x10" speakers. It's very simple and it sounds great. It's pretty low wattage, but it gets plenty loud, except at large outdoor gigs. Robbie (the builder) recommends low wattage and large speaker area for harp. You can hear it at www.reverbnation.com/thedirtymacbluesband.

I think Fat Dog is unknown super bargain for harp players because you get so much bang for your buck vs. some of the other boutique harp amps.

I bought a Fatdog 2A a few months ago, at first I wasn't too impressed, it didn't really have the tone I wanted or enough volume. I bought a Lone Wolf octave pedal to improve the tone and volume, and that seemed to work. But I recently bought a new mic from Front & Center and it made all the difference in the world! The green bullet mic I was using was the problem, I don't know if there was something wrong with it or not, but I don't feel I need any pedals now, the tone is killer and plenty of volume. It's maybe a 30 watt amp. I love my Fatdog and my new Front & Center mic. I'm kinda surprised there's not more Harp players using Fatdogs.

Spider, did that Green Bullet say 520dx on it? Oh, and welcome aboard.

Thanks! Yeah, it was one of the newer ones, the difference is amazing. What a piece of shit compared to the Front & Center mic!

I did a hands-on review of the Fat Dog 2A 2x10 at the Blues Harp Amps blog, and I liked it. It is low-powered and needs some break-in time on the speakers, but it is a nice sounding amp.

I also reviewed the Front & Center mics, comparing them to GB and JT30 crystals. The F&C mics are astonishingly good. I ordered one for myself (no freebies, I pay for my gear) and I can't wait.
