I don't know if this has been posted here before, but here's Ian Collard of Collard, Greens and Gravy playing at a jam. He won't need any introduction to the Aussies on the forum as he's one of the top (if not the top) blues harp players in Oz. What's remarkable for me is that he's using a Lone Wolf Harp Break into the PA. Pretty damn good sound in my opinion.

The is second video features Suzannah Espie and an unknown woman on backing vocals. Suzannah then takes over the main vocal duties. That woman can certainly tear it up. Great cover of a Ray Charles classic.

@Kingley, I'm a bit confused, it's not a harp break straight into the pa is it? Isn't that what the harp attack is for?

According to the Lone Wolf website, it's a Harp Break. Which is why I was surprised. I didn't think a solid state pedal could sound that good. You're right though the Harp Attack can be used in exactly the same way. The only real difference is the Harp Attack has a valve (tube) in it and the Harp Break is all solid state. They can both be played direct into the PA.

Oh yeah Rubes. Ian has a great voice. He's a good guitar player too. I've been a fan of Ian Collard for a long time.

Excellent! The "Night Time is the Right Time" reminded me of this Cosby episode... but there's not any harp...

Yep. Ian Collard plays some damn fine blues. His Collard Greens and Gravy trio is one fine blues band also. They made their way down our way (Texas) a few years back and participated in Sonny Boy Terry's harp blowout and played a few gigs around Houston. They were quite impressive. Ian took time to visit our harmonica club and put on a clinic...and it was quite a clinic. The man throws down one heck of a deep tone on the instrument.

Interesting. Ian showed me what he was using one night, about 12 months ago I guess, so my memory may be wrong, but im sure it was the attack. He was using a borrowed, presumably stock, blues junior IIRC, miked up.
That was a small gig out the back of the Longley 'International' Hotel here in Tassie. Ripper little summertime venue. Disappointing attendance that night, but those who were there all appreciated the band. The lady behind the bar commented to me on his sound: "you'd swear he had a saxophone sometimes."

SuperBee - Yes, Ian told me does use a Harp Attack sometimes too. I emailed him and asked him. He seems to really like the Lone Wolf pedals. He sent me a link to the first video and told me he's using the Harp Break into a small Yamaha PA. Damn good sound. Mind you Ian could get a good sound out of an old paper bag.

I'm considering buying one of these lonewolf pedals at the moment so I thought I'd bring this thread back. I'm actually getting a bit lost trying to figure out which one to get. Their functions seem to overlap quite a bit, like the harp attack and the harp beak for example and there's also a harp tone+ that seem to do the similar things. Can anyone point out the pros and cons of these pedals compare to each others?

My reason for wanting the pedal is to be able to travel light - walk into any bar in town and be able to use whatever available and get a good sound out of it. Which one gets your vote? And why?

@Kingley, from the clip that you posted, is it that glassy break up that make you like the sound? I remember you often said that Princeton reverb is the amp that you like the most and it's also has that glassy break up that I love.

Of all the clips in the lonewolf site I like the sound in this clip the most. The harp attack seems to active more in the mid to low range for me. Can You set up the harp attack to break up the same way the harp break does as well?

I emailed Randy at Lone Wolf and asked which pedal would be most appropriate/noticeable for my setup,( 5W champ & one of Gregs CM custom mics) he suggested the Tone + for me. You have different requirements, so prob. harp attack or break!?
I was either going for the tone or the octave.....went for the tone. ;~}

Puri - Yes the glassy break up is what impressed me about Ian's sound in that clip. I also like that clip the most of the demo sounds on the Lone Wolf website.
I managed to acquire a secondhand Harp Attack earlier this week. It had it's first outing on Friday night at a local jam. Very easy to set up and gives you a very good amped sound. It can go from smooth clean tone to a heavily overdriven champ tone just by turning the drive knob. Very good piece of kit indeed. It's a little early to tell if it'll break up the same way as the Harp Break. As I haven't had much time to play with it yet. Preliminary thoughts though after plugging it into my hi-fi at home are it's easily capable of doing that. I'm on the lookout now for a used Harp Break as well to compare the difference.

Puri - It all depends on what you want to do with it I suppose. If you want to plug straight into the PA and play (which is what I want), then the Harp Attack or Harp Break would be the most logical choices. If you want to plug into an unknown amp then the Harp Tone + and a Harp Shield would probably be the best option.
