I wasn't sure about resurrecting this subject,so I checked with Adam and he said it was OK. It seems some members are attributing the ODN comment directly from me. If you reread that post,I was quoting my EX wife. I do not condone such words and in fact, it would send me into an instant rage. My EX knew this and would count on my knee jerk reaction to it. It was more a comment on a bad marriage and had very little to do with overt racism. I sincerely apologize to those I may have offended, particularly Afro Blue, J.D. Hoskins and Joe L. I will gladly give you my ex wife's phone number,if that will help.

Is she good looking?

I saw your original post and saw that it came from your ex-wife.

1:12 PM "Joe makes a great point, I have used that term just because it was easy and I knew it would be understood, even though I don't like it. But ODN is way over the line, and angers me deeply!"

J.D.-The above post is why I specifically mentioned your name.

I really don't care to sit here and defend myself as not being racist. If you'd like to sift through my 1000+ posts for indications-feel free. I most certainly don't care to defend my ex wife. She is a non entity to me.Racist by association is not applicable in this case.

As for your #1 point.Guilty as charged. To me Old Dead Blues Guys ARE Old Dead Black Guys. But that thread enlightened me on what was wrong with that acronym. I won't use it anymore. The only reason I quit commenting was because Frank's thread was being hijacked. I said what I said and I made no attempt to delete it. I wish I hadn't said it,but it did open a discussion to something to which I hadn't given much thought. Judge me as you will J.D.,but you should know me a lot better before you reach such a serious conclusion.

@Tuckster - You are not a racist and you do not have to defend yourself. My reaction was to multiple people talking about ODN's and just disrespect in general. I simply overreacted personally. I don't apologize for it, because it was an itch that needed to be scratched. I am glad you're coming forward about this and that means all of it. Keep enjoying your year and put this behind you.

It'd be ironic for your reputation to go down over something you said that you're EX wife said, as if she was still your wife and still saying. All is forgiven. Thank you sir.

JD--no problem. Even the best of us can be guilty of brief stupid moments of racism. If you swear about the Indian whose English you couldn't understand on the customer service line, you're guilty of racism. Even with the best intentions,we all slip sometimes. As long as we learn from those stupid moments and try not to do it again,we're making progress.

Afro Blue- Thank you! That's especially meaningful, since you were the one person I was most concerned with offending. We need your perspective. I'd bet big money the majority of forum members are white. We can talk about discrimination but we're never going to experience it like you have.
