Hi, I'm new to this Forum, though not new to Adam's Miss. camp. I would say I'm an advanced beginner or newish intermediate. I need a place to find other NYC-based harp players and/or bands to jam with. Adam mentioned a NYC jam by a guy named Les Chalimon, and I found him on youtube, but they didn't mention the name of the place where there's an open mike NYC Sat afternoon jam (though it DID say the harp jammers were really good, and that's not me). So, if there's no place a new intermediate can jam in the city, but if there's a NYC-based person who's good and wants to come to my apartment (midtown NYC) and jam with me, I'll pay you. I was in Charlotte NC yesterday and had the GREAT fortune of meeting Todd Parrott and we jammed one song -- to be able to try and follow someone that excellent is an unmatched learning experience. Any suggestions?

Something must have happened to my original post. Look up the Garden State harmonica Club. We meet on the e1st and 3rd Monday of each month in Glen Rock, NJ. Open mic for both diatonic and chromatic.

Hi Margie. I'll try to give you a credible map here: The quintessential (and very guitar heavy) jam in Manhattan is run by Big Ed Sullivan on Monday nights at the "Red Lion" ( 151 Bleeker St. at 8 pm). You should get there early to sign up as the joint gets packed..A couple of harp players usually show up there - when I (rarely) go I play with Ed on his pre-jam set...( here is Ed - the big guy on guitar- playing with my band at NYC's "Sugar Bar" so you recognize him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mg_COHPGung&list=PLNGdyawQqxhQbVf700UP9kJg6Lo2pppAR&index=8 Regarding Les's Saturday jam. I haven't attended but Les used to be a drummer in my band and is a good guy: Here's that info: Saturdays at 4 p.m. at Tammany Hall, 142 Orchard Street. Telephone (and you had better call in advance to ascertain this jam) 212-228-7556. And here's a video of something I did with Les on drums: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwB2Y_5_QYA&list=PLNGdyawQqxhQbVf700UP9kJg6Lo2pppAR&index=6 I play weekly at Ashford & Simpson's Sugar Bar as a result of my affiliation with them but that is a singer's (and I mean singer with a capital S) jam.....Finally here is a Facebook page related to NYC jams: http://www.facebook.com/groups/498825243481112/?fref=ts Just message me on my linked FB page for my number and email if you want to communicate.....Have a musical 2013. d ---------- Facebook
