My good friend, NYC harp guy Little Mike (Markowitz), is playing some shows with Willie Green, an older harp player with whom he's been doing a duo thing for the last little while. Mike is a fantastic guy and he has paid his dues. As I've noted once or twice here, it was Mike who pulled me off the street--Bleecker Street--one night in September of 1985 when I was busking and insisted that I sit in with his band. He literally gave me my start in the NYC clubs. He has a long track record with everybody from Muddy on down--mostly on piano (that is, or was, his main thing) but also on harp. He's a great singer.
In short, he's a true blues guy and I recommend him very highly. We may bring him and Willie to HCH in 2014.
Here's part of the press release. Those of you in Florida, Gainesville area, please make a point of going out and catching his show. And please tell him I sent you. (He did NOT ask me to post this.)
