I just stumbled across the video below: Cedell Davis singing, Lightnin' Malcolm playing gittar. Davis was born in 1927, which makes him an elder at this point. I think Malcolm has the perfect touch. This isn't flashy blues; it isn't Stevie Ray, or Robert Cray, or B. B. King's big show. It's just community music--outdoor music for drinking beer to, on a sunny spring day in the Delta. For that reason, this is a priceless little slice of life.
If you're a harp player on the rise, you should jam along to this cut and then show up in Clarksdale in April 2010 the weekend of the planter's festival, and sit in with somebody.
