Amazon is selling GM's that they list as "Minor Eb" and "Minor Bb", etc.
What's that? HohnerUSA website says the GM is available in
"all major keys". Anyone know what's up with this?

I'm pretty sure that's a mistake. They don't come in minor keys, but it's pretty easy to make your own by retuning them.

Thanks Todd. I think it's some kind of Amazon nonsense. They have several GM's listed as "minor" this or that key. I went ahead and ordered them because they were new and about $14.50 each, with free shipping. The model number they list is the right model number for the major Eb and Bb harps, so..........we'll see what they turn out to be.

I just bought both! I have both a Dm and a Gm Golden Melody but they were tuned that way for me by a friend and admittedly I only use the Dm sparingly on stage....I would have thought this was an advert mistake but the price is so cheap, e.g., $13.91 for the Ebm and $15.05 for the Bbm that it leads me to believe they are anomalous tunings by Hohner that Amazon got hold of and is selling cheaply! d

Oldwailer - I reckon you'll love 'em. I tried my first Golden Melody last week and now I can see why folks rave about them. Very nice playing harps indeed and I'm really digging the equal tuning.

The Eb has gone back up now by the looks of it. A Bb will do as the ET complement to my MB Bb (bambooed), will need a good comb for it now!! Damn you people for supporting my GAS...
Someone tell me they are Manufactured in Germany....?----------

I emailed Amazon to try to get clarification on the "minor" thing. They had no information at all, zero, and advised me to contact "the manufacturer", which I have now also done. Awaiting a reply from Hohner.
The package image Amazon shows in their listing is the Hohner box, and it says "South Germany" on it, under "Trossingen".

THIS IS INDEED A MISTAKE!!!!
These are not minor tuned. They are standard richter tuning using ET. Just like every other GM ever made. There never has been a minor tuned Golden Melody from the factory. I've notified "the powers that be" at Hohner and Amazon. The adds should be fixed on the Amazon website very soon. Prob sometime tomorrow.

@harp-er : The box says South Germany under Trossingen because Trossingen is in South Germany lol

Cool! That's exactly what I suspected and hoped. And getting 2 new GM's for under $30 is about as good as it gets. Whoopeee!

For anyone who might be interested, Amazon still has the "Minor" Bb for about $15, and a "Minor" C# (Db) for about $19. Grab 'm while you can.

I got one of mine--a Bb. Very comfortable harp to play--(my first GM). It definitely needs some tweaks in the lower end--and I'm thinking about a 7-limit tuning, but I'm going to see if I get used to the way it is. It fits well in my rack--I was worried that it might not.

In short, it's a lot like a MB--needs a bit of shop work to be good--but at this killer price I'd buy more if I had a chance. . .

I bought 3 GM's when Elderly had a sale on a couple years back. The intention was to set them up for OB's as I'd heard they were pretty good OOTB and good for OB's after some gapping.

I personally don't care for them, even after tweaking, just not fussy on the shape.

I did manage to get one of the cases autographed by Carlos del Junco. So that GM's a keeper even if I never play it.
