I proposed this before and there seems to be some interest. Let's get it going this coming year.
Whadya say, - Greg, Joe, Buzadero -anyone else local ?

I can volunteer my place as a first (or regular) meeting spot.
My 'man-cave' is a music studio and home theater with about a 1000 watts of surround sound for blasitng backing tracks or other tunes (should we care too get loud). We can also screen some related movie clips - I have the American Folk Blues Festival (or most of the DVD's anyway). Plus I am set up to record, if we want get sound samples or jams down. There is also a drum kit, pa, bass and guitar amps around if we ever want to get a backing band in.

I am at the south end of SF, easy to get to off the 280 , 101 and 19th ave. - (not far from Stonestown, SF State, West Portal) and have very easy parking, believe it or not. There are al ways ample spots within a block of my house.

If you saw my 'amps you currently own' picture, - you can see I have a few amps on hand for starters. mod-ed BMri, GA6 and BR9 Gibsons, Lone Wolf DIY se6l6, VHT special 6 - and a few others. Of cousre I'd want others to share some of their collection for sampling, - that'd be the point of it all.

Most Saturdays and Sundays afternoons can work for me - though I'd have to check with the 'boss' to clear a specific day.

among other things, - It could be like a Tupperware Party for Greg - I get a little credit toward mine, - for every GH b-m-a mic. sold ;)

My weekend days in January are all open except for the 20th right now.
If we wait too long to pick one the boss may book some social obligation in for me on a Saturday - but for the moment, all clear.

It's fine if anyone wants to invite other local players who are not active on the forum.

We can do some minor pot-luck snackage and beverage.

bDog...That advertisment is a
no-brainĀ·er - Something so simple or easy as to require no thought! I'd pay to attend that club!

You'll have ALL the closet/basement players flocking to your house for a HPA meeting (harp players anonymous)...
Hi my name is Frank and I'm a harmonica weirdo - you mean I'm not the only one :)

If I still lived in Davis I'd scoot over there for the meetup!

Home with the Wife ? ? Understood, - I got one too (see "boss" above). I'd consider a weekday evening - but Greg and Joe have a long way to drive.

We could concievebly do it earlier on a Wed. afternoon - then head down to Greg's Redwood City Jam afterwards. That may be a bit too much harp honkin for some of us - but I'd be game. I work for myself (less than full time) and could take the afternoon off.

Rick - your welcome to fly in any time. I could find a spare bed around here too if you'd want to crash. You wouldn't even have to bring your Mission prototype. Joe's got a Mission we will hopefully get to sample.

Is this get-together still going to happen? And are newbies to this forum welcome? I "know" some of you from another forum that has dwindled. I live in Davis, so I wouldn't be there often, but I'd like to join in if I am welcome.

Lets try fixing a date - after new years. As stated any weekend day but the 20th is ok for me in January - or go for the early Wed. afternoon, - then down to Greg's Jam.

And yes, newcomers to the forum would be absolutely welcome.

Happy New Year everyone

Redwood City Blues Jam Schedule:

Wed 1/16: Phil Berkowitz and the Dirty Cats
Wed 1/23: Alvon Johnson
Wed 1/30: JC Smith Band

The 23rd or 30th work best for me - and Alvon Johnson is great if you haven't seen him (guitar player/singer.)

Alvon is amazing. Old style Entertainer (note capital E) with chops up the wazoo. - Jammed with him once.

I'm good with either of the last two dates. What time do you recon we'd have to start to give us a little time - then commute down to the jam?

I have to be at the jam way before anyone else because my amp has to be setup on stage for 6:00PM sound check. The doors open at 6:30 and the host band starts at 7PM. It's about 30-45 minute south of S.F. depending on where in The City and traffic conditions.

My preference- the earlier the better - but I know that isn't convenient for everyone. You can certainly continue without me if/when I have to leave.

Yes. Aki will be at Moe's Alley in Santa Cruz working the Mark Hummel's Blowout on Thursday night. I will be subbing for him. Eric will do the heavy lifting of managing the list.

I'm probably going to bring the Mission amp. We are going to have some fun, so come on down. We start at 8pm. Mark is doing a tribute to Jimmy Reed. I may do Jimmy Reed tunes. We will see. You never know who is going to show up!

The Grand Dell Saloon is in historic Campbell, CA.

Is the amp thing still on? I probably can't get down there in January, but I'm hoping that it will work out for the next time. May I suggest different times and days, maybe a weekend sometimes?

I can't make it this Saturday, unfortunately. I love the idea of this thing. I'm hoping that it becomes something semi-regular that I can make at some point in the next few months.

I'm in Davis, too. but unlikely to be able to make such a trip in the near future. Would still like to hear about meet ups if they happen.

@DBblues - drop me an email if you want to talk harp sometime.

I would be interested in a meet up in Davis, as I live in Rancho Murieta (just east of Sacramento) I have an Epi Valve Jr., modified by Randy Landry at Lone wolf.

Id like to possibly make it sometime; just not sure when. Weekdays are out and weekends I'm often teaching and/or rehearsing.
