For the first time in history of the harmonica (that we know of), DuPont Corian and Solid Surface coverplates are available. Hetrick is releasing them in 2013.
I have a prototype set and they are pretty slick!

I had them on a SP20, but I haven't played them for a while. I'll see if I can do an audio sample. Full disclosure, I have two playable SP20's, so I don't use them much personally.
I know he has them for Crossovers and other harps, but my set was a prototype SP20. ---------- Custom Harmonicas

I tried harps with wood coverplates ( BRODUR&DORTEL) . Didn't like it that much . Let's see ( hear) how is the sound and feeling with corian . The two harps are very nice , there is another one on HETRICK's website ,the covers are made of white corian , nice too .One thing with the corian : it won't rust . Oh , MIKE : it would be funny to make an audio sample with a stock SP20 and then with the corian one , to make a comparison...

I am hoping to. Full disclosure, I test this stuff all the time at home, but my recording rig is not next to my work space. I am flat out to lazy to set up stuff and move it back and forth.
Hopefully, I can get a better external mic for my iPad for Christmas. I've invested in some audio apps in effort to measure what I think I hear or don't hear. I am not very clever with all those apps yet to talk very technical.
I wish it was easier to accurately repeat the exact same breath pattern to A/B stuff. I often catch myself playing differently based on bias. ---------- Custom Harmonicas

Yes , you're right : what we hear and what we think we hear is a point of debate , maybe scientific... I too , can't breath exactly the same on A/B - lol -
