Now that the speaker has broken in this amp is really coming into its own. I had a gig the other night where there was no
room for my regular amp, you know, the kind of place where the band are all shoulder to shoulder. Anyway the HB ended up on a window cill, no room for a mic. stand to mic. it up.
I keep a long goose neck that has a mic. holder attached
and this was passed under the amp handle and bent down at the back and front allowing the mic. to sit just at the edge of the speaker cone.
The suprise is that the 5w of the HB was ample as a monitor
in a 5 piece band situation (I was about 7feet away to the side of the amp, no room to stand in front of it) and I could hear it perfectly. The other guys in the band (not my regular band) were amazed at the harp tone this little amp could pruduce.
On another occasion, a few weeks ago I was at a jam where another harp player turned up with a 5w Harpgear amp. He played through his amp, I played through the HB, he played through the HB. He thought the HB was amazing, even more so when I told him it cost £66 and he took the details to order one for himself.
I reckon that this must be the best value for money harp amp you can buy (although the price has gone up a bit owing the the poor performance of the £) and it is about £40 cheaper than the Epiphone Valve Jr. which is the same amp but with no EQ.
You could say I'm really pleased with this little amp.

Looks good, sounds good, costs little! I'm sold, even though I'd prefer solid state.

Phogi,
To the best of my knowledge these amps are only available from Thomann, Germany via the internet.
If you are in the U.S.A. I don't know what import duty you would have to pay. Try emailing Thomann, they are
very helpful, to see what their carriage charges to the U.S.would be. You can check the rate of import duty on a U.S.government website.

Andrew, the only decent harp sound I've ever had from a tranny amp was from a Kustom Tube 12w and that had a valve in the pre-amp.

Those little Kustom Tube are a nice amp. They don't appear to be available in the U.K. now.
My one is being used as a pre-amp to an all tube Crate 40w valve amp that sounded too bright but with the Kustom gives a really good tone.
