my hat goes off to you. i knew custom harps was alot of work but now that im doing my own it really know how much work it can be. iv put so many hours into the reed work on this C harp, not to mention replacing the nails an sealing the comb (wich didnt seem to work to well cause its swelling) an i didnt even tune it yet. but i used to not like playing a C harp but now this is one of my favorite harps cause of how it plays now. but back on topic to all you customizers that make harps for every one...wow. that is allot of work an now its totally understandable why it takes so long to get a harp. an its not like its "hard" work but its extremely tedious an annoying. an the attention to detail is so great that sometimes i wanna put a bullet through my head. also the price is more understandable now too. i could never picture myself making harps for any one but myself. so i have a new found respect for all you out there that do. that is all.

I agree Jon. It gives you a huge respect for customisers work when you start working on your own harps.

But the most important thing is that you have started to learn to work on your harps. This is something I believe every player should do. Even if it's only simply gapping and tuning.

Customizing is an art-form - no question about it. Comparing it with drawing... most of us do clumsy handdrawings, but it can also be done with good tools and the right techniques...
the right techniques... that's what it's about.

My hat is off to customizers who do so for money. There is NO WAY that you get paid for your time invested in each harp. It has to be art, because only an artist would do it.

" There is NO WAY that you get paid for your time invested in each harp. "

Well... it may be art, but they're not stupid.

I haven't opened up a Harp since I got My Buddha Harp in C. It made me realize that if I spent the kind of time needed to get each hole the same precision as the rest I would have to quit work or give up playing. It's beyond me. I can get a Harp so much better then OOB but this sort of customizing is humbling. As I told Chris he is turning Harps into Exquisite instruments. Now y'all drop it before he raises his prices.
