I thought the whole mascot thing was interesting. It seems almost derogatory I guess. I have always thought of DeFord Bailey as a corner stone in harmonica history, but it put into perspective the attitude towards race differences at that time.

I've been trying to get my hands on the whole documentary. PBS has a website for it but doesn't seem to have made it into a dvd the way they've done with other documentaries. These two clips are all I've found on YouTube. Does anyone know if the whole thing is available somewhere?

I don't know when that second video was made, but DeFord Bailey was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame around 2005.
