What an incredible show it was. It was just him, his harmonicas, his piano, ocarina, nose flute, and drone machine thing :) The YouTube videos and the recordings do not do this genius player justice. His skill is incredible, almost inconceivable.
He started with a random medley. He played through some amp. He played a bunch of pieces of his concerto he wrote, which is absolutely incredible. One thing I must mention is his SPEED and fluidity. He isn't like Jason fast, he literally storms up and down, skips around the harmonica as if he was Charlie Parker. His intonation and tone were incredible; he didn't even sound amplified. He sounded as if the harmonica ALWAYS sounds like that.
Well, he told a few jokes and sat down. He started playing acoustic while playing the piano. He did the same thing on the harmonica as he did on the piano. He did a few songs and he actually put the harmonica down for a little bit now and then. His skills on the piano are monstrous, I promise. If you think he is a good harmonica player, you NEED to hear his piano skills. His left hand is completely separate from his right hand.
He also played an Ocarina pretty nicely and a nose flute. He played that thing like you wouldn't believe. Also, because it was September 11th he played a few patriotic songs and Amazing Grace. It was a beautiful night and he is an extremely nice man and I hope all of you get to check him out.
