I've been enjoying the heck out of Greg Heumann's band CD DURACOOL for the past couple of years. When I do harp clinics, it's my default option for lead-in music. Here's an absurdly underviewed clip (67 views) in which he does the lead song on the CD in a jam session. Greg is one of my favorite blues singers. He's a great example of the Joe Williams school of hipness-through-clean-enunciation. It is indeed possible to sing convincing blues without trying to sound like Muddy Waters or Howlin' Wolf. The uptown sound. BB King does it. Joe Williams does it. Sugar Ray Norcia does it. I'm working on it. Greg does it. Great song, too:
Greg is a fine singer. He picks cool tunes. His band has cool arrangements of those tunes. He is also a fine person. ---------- The Blues Photo Gallery
Adam's sentiment is something that has been at the back of my mind. I have seen Greg on YouTube, and maybe he sang a bit at Rooster's in Oxford before HCH, I can't recall exactly. Nice voice and style, Greg.
All great stuff! That is a great "Blues" voice. I guess some of the trick is singing like you mean it. If you just put confidence in it you can sing any way you like. Same with the harp I guess. (From someone who can't sing at all) ---------- Pistolkatt - Pistolkatts youtube
