Hi guy's,

I've not posted here for a while mainly due to working my ass off. My new Spiers stage 1 arrived a few weeks ago but I've not really had the time to put it through its paces until today.

All i can say is this harp was well worth the wait. It's effortless to play, all the bends are right there at your command and its smooth and comfortable to play. i'm no over-blower but the 5 and 6 are right there(the four is probably there too for a skilled over-blower.

Anyway i thought i would upload an acoustic Juke (with backing track)

Thanks Joe your harps rock!!!!

Stage 1 sounding like a sweet harp - That track sojo made for "juke" is slow as hell and it appears that your rushing the beat Ant - what do you think?

Thanks guy's,It's good to be back.

@Frank, your right, rushing the beat is one of my habits especially when I've not been playing harp for a while,i'm finding it really hard to get back into it and i really have to concentrate on that beat:o)

Ant - do you have a CrossOver to compare the Spiers Stage 1 ?

I don't Frank, I'm not a Hohner fan. Every Hohner harp bar the Spiers harp I own have been terrible harps. I'm a Seydel man, the Spiers harp was just a present to myself really.

I learnt to play harp on a Lee Oskar harp and i think that's why I love Seydel so much as they seem to be a bit thicker like the Lee Oskar, Except Seydel are an amazing OTB harp(in my opinion)

I would like to try a Crossover though, I've heard very good things about them.

Thanks Ant...How do compare your OOB Seydel to your Spiers harp? I not looking to put you on the spot - I'm sure the Spiers harp is a much better playing instrument!

You can't really compare the two really. The spiers harp is a treat to play but i wont replace all of my Seydels yet...

For the price, a Seydel 1847 is a great compromise on a custom. Its loud, very very responsive, air tight and comfortable to play, ok it doesn't have that Marine Band raspiness but i'm not bothered by that.

The Spiers harp is also very loud, very responsive, has a really nice Corian comb(which i think i will get more of for some other harps i have).

I treat my custom harps (i have this Spiers harp, Ben Bouman Beta Harp and i have an old Pre-war Old standby), like old rare car's, i only take em' out now and again for a spin, enjoy them for a while then go back to my regular harps.(the Spiers harp is the best custom harp i own though by far)

I'll stick to Seydel for my everyday harps and treat myself to a custom every now and again as and when my finances allow:o)
