That's awesome Tom, what a coincidence that you'll be able to ask him cause I am not able to find any proof of that trivia about him.
More trivia... Bologna and mustard sandwiches are the most eaten food by Bluesmen who tour regularly.

Well, of the two writers credited with "A League of Their Own", Kelly Candaele went to Lompoc High School, and Kim Wilson the harp player went to high school right down the road in Goleta, Ca. It's not definitive, but it is a pretty solid clue.

Speaking of Mike Judge playing with Anson,If you take a look at Beavis, past reading told me that he looks very similar to Anson.I remember now that I think about it, I read it in an older Blues Revue.(not exactly the national inquierer)As for the cigarette smoking/beer drinking buddy on king of the hill I don,t see it,but Beavis(the hair the face) definitely.(excuse my spelling, too much rotted drywall and soaking wet insulation for the past couple of days due to sandy)

Nothing sensational but fun: Leon Redbone, the best and most "authentic" sounding interpreter of early African-American jazz/blues/ragtime material is (probably) from Cyprus, and allegedly moved to Canada in the 60´s. (Plays the harmonica.) Johnny Otis was born of Greek parents, but "decided" to be black. They both do what they do rather well. Actually J Otis died this year, quite unrecognized nowadays. It´s his band backing Big Mama Thornton on "Hound dog". (She played the harmonica as well.)

Lieber and Stoller wrote "Hound Dog" for Big Mama Thornton. They were thoroughly pissed off that Elvis changed the orginal lyrics to include the line "you ain't caught a rabbit and you ain't no friend of mine", noting that the song had absolutuely nothing to do with a dog.

Robert Johnson died at 27...as did Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, etc. There is quite the mythology around famous musicians dying at 27.
I love that fact that Robert Johnson died before 30 and Little Walter died before 40. I mean, I am not excited they died young, but relish in the fact that they did. It seems so appropriate considering the number of 50+ white guys going off about the blues. ---------- Mike OOTB Harmonica Price List VHT Special 6 Mods Note Layout Comparisons Quicksilver Custom Harmonicas (Updated 10/25/12)

Exactly.
I remember that light bulb going off locally. There was the older generation just hammering young blues players around here and the young guys, for the most part listened.
Finally, I realized that catering to those people was dumb. They don't listen to my music, don't come to my shows, and don't provide me with anything to further my endeavors.
My attitude towards the harmonica community, though, is very different. That feedback and support is a huge part of my love for harmonica. ---------- Mike OOTB Harmonica Price List VHT Special 6 Mods Note Layout Comparisons Quicksilver Custom Harmonicas (Updated 10/25/12)

I read somewhere that 30% of blues players 50 and older regardless of race - credit their escape from an early grave as simply dumb luck, while 70% felt that God played a hand in their survial of being young, dumb and full of cum...

60s British blues band Chicken Shack had a reasonably sized hit with the Etta James tune "I'd Rather Go Blind". The singer on the Chicken Shack version was Christine Perfect, later to marry and become Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac. Chicken Shack still tours regularly led by guitarist Stan Webb. The rest of the line up has changed frequently over the years. ---------- LSC

Stevie Ray Vaughn plays lead guitar on David Bowies "Lets Dance" album-it really kick started Stevies career, after being noticed by Bowie when palying with Double Trouble at the Montreux Jazz Festival.
Bowie wanted Stevie to join him on the Lets Dance tour, but Stevie opted to sign with John Hammond Sr at epic records-the rest is history-

Not in genetic terms, but on their recordings and in the music circles, they are referred to as SR and JR-.

I saw Kim play drums during a live T-Birds show in NJ around 2006-all the musicians were swapping instruments between songs-ala the Randolph Family Band-so Kim decided to get behind the drum kit.
The amazing part-he played harp with one hand, and the drums withthe other while singing "Boogie All Night Long"-

@JD Hoskins- As far as I know Paul Jones never played with Stan Webb's Chicken Shack, as they are now known. Certainly not on anything like a regular basis. My best friend played bass with Stan for seven years and I know Jones never played with them during that time.
Paul Jones did have a group called The Blues Band with Dave Kelly. Jones is primarily involved in acting and has a very long running blues radio show on the BBC. There was a time when if you heard a harmonica on a TV commercial or British film soundtrack it was invariably Paul Jones or Mark Feltnam from Nine Below Zero.
One other bit of trivia. Paul Jones starred in a West End production of "Kiss Me Kate" with the Royal Shakespeare Company. ---------- LSC
