Hey Y'all,

I haven't been contributing much lately, due to a small dip in time-available for harp.

I'd like to contribute though, that Mr. Musselwhite will be coming to Berlin the 25. of November, in the Machinenhaus in the Kulturbrauerei, Prenzlauerberg. Google and find. I'll be there. Would be nice to perhaps meet some of you guys, if anyone's in Berlin!

Cheers

I am in Berlin this week, staying a few minutes walk from the Kulturbraueri.

Where are some good venues for live blues bands in Berlin? I'd like to see a band play tomorrow night...

I wish I could make it back for the Musselwhite show, but don't think I can.

@A440
I'm sorry, I didn't get online yesterday. Perhaps Raumerstr. 39, Speiches Blueskneippe might be nice to check out as well. They don't have web-presence, but there's live music pretty often. Famous bar anyways. And very near to where you are..

Hey guys,

So, went to my first real blues concert last night, and it was a lot of fun! Me and my girl were just standing there with a big smirk on our faces all night long, having a blast enjoying Musselwhite's performance. House wasn't packed, but had a good vibe. Musselwhite played great. Started off with some classic chicago stuff, and then went into positions that we couldn't really guess without playing ourselves. There was 1st, 3th, 4th and 5th I think.

He played with a cool band, which also plays on his new album (which he kept promoting during the night, like 5 times, which was kinda funny). I liked the drummer especially, but the bassist was fun to watch as well. Guitarist was good, but a bit tight, and didn't interact with the others so much. Something CM does all the time. He seems like an amazingly kind and warm guy, which really transferred to the room.

I really enjoyed this. CM sounded great, really inspiring.

There was this funny moment btw were he dropped his mic (I'm pretty sure it was a Greg Heumann mic, the darker one of the two). While picking it up he said: "Well, it wasn't much good anyway," with this big smile on his face. Of course the mic sounded great. He went into a stomp and then into probably a bassman, and that was it. Thought: must write this for Greg Heumann to read :)

Does anyone know what the stomp might have been? A bright red box? Delay?

Anyhow, just wanted to let you know. The encore was a new version of Christo redemptor, that's also on the new album. I never liked that on cd, but the live version was pretty f*cking cool!

I think Musselwhite has a fine band. Those guys are tight. The drummer (June Core) and bass player (Mike Phillips) have played together for years with a variety of people. The guitarist, Matt Stubbs is a fine guitarist. He has been with them for a few years. They've been all over the world in the past six weeks. I would imagine they were tired.

I have had an opportunity to play with that band. It's cool.
