I guess I'm just getting old. I didn't realize that all the real action was happening at the upper end of the scale--at the place where Justin Bieber and Psy are competing with Jennifer Lopez for the most-watched YouTube video of all time.

791 million hits vs. 538 million hits.

I'm sure you've all seen them both, but just in case.......

I like 'em both.

According to Atlantic magazine, Gangnam Style could be the first billion-hit YT video by Thanksgiving. It is rising meteorically.

I hadn't heard of it until ten minutes ago.

Here's his interview on ABC:

1 billion views. What's so special about that guy. I don't get it. I mean, I watched it and contributed to his success with one more view, but I still don't understand what is so important that 1 billion people care to watch him. I feel super old lately because I had a birthday on the 24th, most of the people I arrest (I'm a cop... no offense) are younger than me, and I don't get what's so damn special about a horse dance. Been done before....

Yeah my Granddaughter Bella said 'grandpa you don't get many hits on your youtubes as One Direction (her favourites) were getting a million hits a day. She suggested I should do a One Direction tune which might increase my hit rate. I asked her what tune and she suggested I do their Forever Young. I looked it up but no it was not me so I chose Bob Dylans version instead:-

The Bieber video is 798 teens who have watched it 1 million times. The other guy, I think it's the techie tune that keeps 'em watching. My most watched video, over 18.000 hits:

You should see the vid where he plays in front of 80,000+ people!

Just awesome.

I too, am a big fan of Gangnam stlye.

I suggest you ponder this statement he made on the Ellen Show: "Gangnam Style is about dressing sharp and dancing cheesey"

I think there's something evil and addictive about "Gangnam Style." I find myself wanting to replay the video repeatedly. It's evil. Very well constructed, too. Evil. Hook-y. Opium-like.

I've just searched YouTube for "worst music video ever" and found the following. They might be right.

PS: It has more than two million hits. I should just shoot myself in the head right now.

Well... Obviously people have different senses of details and subtleties...

Here is our "Justin Bieber" from Switzerland, Bastian Baker:

I hate him because he's fresh and young but I have to admit that he's doing well.

The guys from Eton College jumped on the bandwagon too.
You just need to find something that's gone viral and jump into the slipstream.

Psy, the Gangnam Style guy, has a surprisingly interesting past that includes time as a music major at the Berklee College of Music. His ascent to the top has by no means been a sure or obvious thing. He was a stubborn, somewhat crazy but focused cut-up--busted for drug use, in and out of the Korean Army, dropping out of several US colleges, in trouble with Korean moral authorities. A bluesy life--except for the fact that his father had a lot of money and prestige. But it all came together for him at the end.
