Here's a link to the SoundClick track:

I've been exploring 3rd position a bit since my last confusion with it a few months ago. I think I got it now, but let me know if I'm still deluding myself. It's great how the right backing track helps something kick in. It's like a little revelation. I love this track, and I think it did that for me.
Forgive the recording quality. I have no idea what I'm doing beyond the very basics of getting something just recorded.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I know there is some refinement/polishing needed, but I think the basic thing is there. ---------- Matthew

i suggest you try some tb octaves. cover 4 holes, block the middle 2. start low and make runs up and back until you hit the groove. fuller sound. maybe also try a slower piece to work with and relax a bit. over all though it sounds like you are getting there. keep up the good work! ---------- http://www.reverbnation.com/jawboneandjolene

another suggestion- get a low D harp. seems to fit well with that jam track as well! ---------- http://www.reverbnation.com/jawboneandjolene

@jbone - thanks for the suggestions. I find that I'm not much interested in tb'ing, so don't do it. I've tried it a little, but I can't say it's for me. For better or worse, at least at this point, I prefer to try to improve my playing with lb'ing/lp'ing.
I might go for a low D harp at some point though. The only low harp I have is an F, and I find that I rarely use it at all, even when I might with a track in C or Gm. I used to not like the higher harps so much, but now I find them more challenging and interesting. I also find the faster pieces that way too, sometimes at least, depending on the track. (I love a slow, low down blues as well). They give me more room to stretch out and challenge myself, and enter into a more jazz related/improvisational realm. ---------- Matthew
