Thanks Russ, for getting back to your video camera. Will's a solid guy; I took a few lessons from him when I lived in Brighton.

the bass player and guitar player need to lose the half stacks and get some good fender combos. ohh and Will needs to learn how to sing properly.

@ Bluesjacketman - There's nothing like solid, constructive criticism and that certainly was... nothing like solid, constructive criticism! ;-)

@Bluesjacketman as well - not sure how serious you were but I like his singing. Very appropriate for the song. Good blues intonation, clear lyrics. Sounds less forced than your 'Dust My Broom'. Could use a bit more volume but that could be the recording.

He does need to eat a few more Twinkies though or he won't fit properly into the Hawaiian shirt harp uniform. It will just hang off him like a flag. ;)

Will is a good guy and a friend. I met him on the Blues Cruise last year. His sister Dani Wilde is in a band called Girls With Guitars (not the same band as the country acoustic duo by the same name) - which also features Otis Taylor's daughter Cassie Taylor on bass- they were performers last year and he tagged along. Just e-mailed him a couple of weeks ago and he will be on the Cruise later this month.

I like Will's version of Juke, above. He's not quite in the pocket with the drummer for the first little bit. (And the drummer has a great groove: he holds tempo rather than speeding up.) But then he's there, everything comes together. He's got a totally clean sound: no help, tone-wise, from the mic or amp (or PA??). That's the test of a harp player, and he's passes it easily. I hear a guy really applying pressure to his reeds--"playing hard," and knowing how to get his reeds to bark. He also knows how to keep the song developing rather than stagnating. I was surprised by the stuff he threw in in the twenty seconds around 2:10 or so (1:50 to 2:10?). Definitely a player worth listening to and stealing from!

His bio is interesting. Did he really release his first recording when he was 17? If he's only 22 now and he released it in 2007, that's pretty much the story. Good for him! I like what he's doing.

Here is some video of Will Wilde with his sister Dani on the last year's October 2011 Blues Cruise at the Billy Branch Pro Jam:
