Great great memories when he came in Brussels: beeing at the concert was a must. Later, holding a glass beer and a permanent smile on his face, he was answering every question from anybody. I asked him whether he was playing customized harps and always smiling, he spoke about Joe Filisko's, work when I referred to Howard Levy...His smile vanished and he said: for other questions, ask Bill (Barrett)!...Yeah...oooops!
Well that was pretty amazing. Now, I'd like to hear him take all that technique, or maybe just some of it, and play a simple something. Kinda distill it down to essentials without all the wizardry and hoopla. ---------- Matthew
wow! different...they take alot LSD in Sweden? Interspersed very well, with creative and interesting influences. OT ..the harmonizing with the harp has a certain attraction for me. Reminds me of the Mongolian Tuvan throat singer. And how they manipulate their vocal chords, to make music. Even carrying two or three notes in unison...it's truly mind boggling..this is an old thing, maybe alot of you have seen or heard about these cats....
And this video, too...demonstrates all the various techniques...OMG! Youtube blocked "embedding", for some reason... http://youtu.be/NNVrmW0VL2I Don't mean to derail this thread...I'm up late and flying on acid..(juz kiddn). Thought this would cheer up. Imagine how un-polluted their lungs must be...I bet they get a full load of air, too. As opposed to not using the max lung capacity we all have, but don't tap....at all! My guess is, you'd need a full breath of aire to get these kinds of sounds. They must be fairly healing, too. To give your whole body all the nutrients it needs, in the form of oxygen. I'm green, with not-enough-oxygen envy... I wonder how old these cats are? 3? 4? hundred years old.
good night!
