From time to time I receive inquiries about whether or not I make combs for chromatic harmonicas. The answer (so far) has been "No". Historically, I have taken the lowest common denominator approach to choosing which combs to make. It only makes sense to make combs for the most popular models out of the most popular materials vs. some obscure model that very few people own.

So, with that in mind and staying consistent with my strategy, if I was to begin making combs for chromatics, which model and material would you suggest? These would be CNC machined regardless of the material. Thanks in advance for your input.

i agree with tmf.
but i would suggest 2 materials.
seeing how so many are being bought on ebay, this would clearly suggest that folks are trying to save money. and when saving money on used chromes on ebay, people are getting harps where there is a crack in th old wood comb.
thus the need for an inexpensive comb.

but, then, after folks get the feel of playing 3rd position on a chrome and realize it is a valuable tool in their gig case, they will want to move up to something more pricey and exotic.

I would vote for Corian or Acrylic material-Corian on the expensive side and Acrylic for the budget concious.
