Sitting here on a Sunday morning singing songs and this one came out. Hopefully young people will rediscover the power of live music and it will once again flourish. This is a very sparse harp song. IMO most harp players today play way too much. I could play fast, fancy, and most likely impress the masses more but the mood, the feel, the picture the song paints is the focus. The harp is a great tool to add to it but rarely is the entire picture. Walter

rbeetsme: Hopefully those musicians are surviving off their music. I am talking about the music from a pro players view. Today there is live music everywhere that is played in venues that are not set up specifically for listenting and dancing and the players play for free, next to nothing, or pay to play. This has displaced the venues that supported the pro players. The proof is in the pudding as my mother says. Today pro players are doing seminars, camps, lessons, instruction books, and such. Back in my day there was no such thing for pros. They were too busy playing live in clubs set up for music not food. There use to be a strong circut around the country for the mid level bands to survive off their music. That is just about dead and what exisits are a few hold outs from that era and high ticket price venues that feature top tier players from days gone by and the super priced large arenas for the current stars. Festivals were a very small part of the scene back then and now they are the biggest money makers for todays mid level players. Festivals don't create a music scene but for the day or days they are happening. Small clubs that held up to 200 people with dance floors, tables, and people came specifically to hear live music, created a player that you just don't hear in todays players raised in internet/not specifically designed for music "clubs"....... That is what I am talking about. Walter

$ 2.50 for a concert ticket, $2.00 for a 1000 mcg hit of acid. Tune in, turn on, drop out. Yup those days are gone. Now there are soooooo many bands and promoters with various degrees of venues that it surely is a struggle for a musician to survive. As Mr. Zimmerman so elequently stated " Then you better start swimmin' or you'll sink like a stone. For the times they are a changin'." Applicable today more than ever.
