Hello and greetings from Scotland,
I have been messing with the harp on and off for a few years. I cant really read music so what I have been learning about blues harp has mainly come from Adams videos as well as others, and Jon Gindicks book. Sometimes if I am honest with myself, I think I use the fact I do not read music to sometimes find a reason not to play and get any better. That has to change. So hopefully from chatting with other harp players on here I may learn something and get motivated to play more often.

Welcome. When I was 25 I studied music at a local community college just for the purpose of getting better at harp.
It didn't help. ;-)

Welcome! I can recommend David Baretts excellent books (if you were looking for recommendations). Otherwise you can search posts here or you throw up a topic here. There are a lot of great players/teachers who frequent this forum. Michael Rubin, Winslow Yerxa, Jason Ricci (Moon Cat) and of course Adam Gussuw himself to mention a few :D. All here are really friendly and helpful, too.

I never really think of what note I'm playing, but I do think of the interval and octave.

my philosophy is, more time with harp in face = more progress. instructional materials good. jamming with friends good. jamming with blues heroes on cd or yt, good. just as long as you keep playing. this is how you become fluid and fluent with a harp and what it does and what YOU can do with it.
