I'm pretty sure he used both because a number of things he's done over the years can only be done LP as well asome only TB, tho most of what he did could be easily done either way.
He was one of the very first players I ever got to see in the early 70's when he was playing with Willie Dixon going straight thru the PA, and what he did just scared the crap out of me to almost want to throw out my harps. @LIP RIPPER My favorite harp album, period, is Big Walter Horton with Carey Bell. The music & playing is outstanding and soulful, and the sound quality is excellent. And the harps are each in separate channels, which adds a lot to the listening because you can visualize each of them playing their parts.
