With James Cotton's energy on harmonica, this one's tough to beat.

But with Sonny Boy, plus Willie Dixon on bass, this one is so chill.

Can I have a top 2?

@ 1847 - The original is great, but I prefer this version....

;-) :-)

I can't believe Jimmy Rogers' version with Kim Wilson, from Ludella hasn't been mentioned yet...

The most widely covered even to the point of many players doing the solo note for note is the one from the 1960 Newport Jazz Festival featuring James Cotton and Otis Spann and both of those solos are often done note for note, which says iconic.

The very first recorded version by Muddy was a studio version with Little Walter on harp and very few players ever cover this version including the solo.

The real original version of this tune was done by Ann Cole about a good year or two earlier featuring Mickey Baker on guitar and Sam "The Man" Taylor on sax and there was no harp on it.

Thanks for posting the Sonny Boy version Nisei. I love James Cotton on anything and certainly on the version you posted, but the one with Sonny Boy is so sweet! It is the definition of cool.

I was at that Chicagofest show. It was killer. Mojo sounded really fantastic. He had an uber-cool vibe to him.
