Well guys last night i reluctantly stood in with a band for a members birthday!! i was offered this gig on the strengh of a performance i did 15 years ago!
this is the first live playing i have done in about 7 years!
well the result is the venue gave us 3 gigs on the spot and the band want me to join!!!
I thought i had retired and said i need to think about it, i am hoping to just play occasionaly i realy dont want to let anyone down!!

Sweet dilemma eh!!

Well Fingers, there's no doubt that you sound mighty excited about this development. So here's wishing you only what you want, and may it prove to be a pure joy for you. Sweet dilemma indeed.

get off of the high before you make you decision.
remember the time and gas and aggravations of rehearsals.
what other reasons did you have for retiring?

now- the bar gave the 3 gigs, probably on the strength of your playing.
that, in itself, gives you some negotiating room about your conditions on returning.

good luck.

That can only mean that you've kept your chops up and continued to learn. Great news, and congrats.

Thanks for your kind comments!
@harp-er, yes apprehension turned to excitement! :-)

@TheoBurke, I only got back into the harp about 2 years ago trying to play more acoustic tunes! i should practice more than the once a week i do,
but muscle memory kicked in!
i did get the numb lips thing at one point but slipped into some chord playing and covered it. ;-0

@Eharp, you are so right about coming of the high!
the retirement reasons you give are spot on! also i became disillusioned with playing dive bars i have in the past had to jump of stage and get involved in brawls to help my friends out in the audience and at 53 i am probably past my peak LOL!
well the band have said they will give me a list of gigs and i can play whenever i want, so all is good.

Thanks again guys, Fingers.
