Hey Ant - I would like to watch (I'm on dial up) but I love that song. I do it with my band - If you get tired of it - Trouble In Mind is another great 8 bar blues!!

Very good stuff. How long have you been playing harmonica? I need to get some songs down like this.

Nice job Ant.

Ryan--check out Adam's lessons. Ant is playing the song pretty much as Adam teaches it, with a few variations. I had started a thread a while ago asking people to post video on what they've done with his lessons (it morphed into the harpfriends contest), and would love to here more. Keep it coming Ant.

Thank's Hollistonharper, you're right Most of the Key to the highway i was playing is from one of Adams lessons. I usually give them a go and keep coming back to them every so often (usually ive improved when i go back to them). Thanks for the kind words.

Yeah, just a plug for Adam's pay lessons in the Store, not his free YT lessons. In case somehow people here aren't familiar with them. $5 bucks for instruction video and $2 for the tab. You get to learn a song but more importantly you pick up skills to improve your playing. And there's always tons of stuff to milk from them in addition to just learning the notes on the tab. I go back to them all the time too.

Hey Hollistonharper, now that you mention it I remember that thread had started as an idea to start a playlist of the different Adam lessons and I thought it was a great idea. I think we should revisit that and try to get it going again. I'd love to put up a video or three but I don't have a webcam. I DO have a digital video camera but it is digital tape and I don't know how to rip the video from tape to file. In any case, I'd be inclined to find a way to get it done if we started that playlist. Thoughts?

Ant: I saw your video last night and thought you did an admirable job! I've been working my way through the lessons but I jumped forward and downloaded that one and it has been a stretch for me. Getting the timing down through the last 4 bars with all those triplets has been a struggle for me. Not to be critical of your vid but it seemed to me that you were slowing the beat down over the last 2 bars. Did anyone else catch that or is it me? Was it planned? I don't think it sounds bad (the slow down)but it felt like you dropped the beat a little.
Overall, a nice groove, man!

I had gotten a lot of Adam's store lessons a few months ago. I think I got to Juke & got stuck on that beginning riff, heh. Im still working that a little every day to get it right. Ive been thinking about picking some more up starting with the Slim Harpo song but I dont have a CD for him. Maybe Ill buy just that mp3.

Ryan, "I've Got Love If you Want It" is a fun lesson. Not that hard at all. Works on the 2 and 3 bend as well as timing. You can download songs for $.89 at www.lala.com. I use lala to get a lot of my music and it's a great service. No sign up fee, monthly minimums or maximums, etc. I download as many of the songs as possible from Adam's lessons, put them on my mp3 player and jam with them all the time.

Thanks for the recommendation jay. I was about to buy from lala to try it but I just received my copy of Blues Masters Volume 4: Harmonica Classics in the mail and just realized that's on there! Originally picked this up for Easy but it's got a number of cool cuts.

Jay--posting on Adam's lessons sounds good to me. Why not just post on the existing playlist titled Riffs from Adam's Lessons. I've been working on What'd I Say lately, maybe I'll put something up this weekend if I have time. Sorry, have no idea how to get your tape posted.

Mark, Great idea. There's already a spot for the lessons so I'd call out to anyone who's working through Adam's lessons to post something in that area. Don't worry about 'how good' you are. I've noticed a lot of posts of videos are from guys I'd define as 'more experienced' or farther along in the journey than I am. That doesn't bother me one bit. I know where I am and where I want to go. Sort of like being at the gym and not wanting to lift because the muscle head next to you could bench press YOU. It doesn't matter and shouldn't stop me/us.

I'll figure out the whole posting thing. Geez, I work in the software world and my wife is in sales for a "Big Blue" monster so I should be embarrassed if I can't figure SOMETHING out!

Ant,

Good stuff dude.

Just one thing though: in the lyrics, where it first says the word 'highway' the 'way' bit goes to the 5 chord; the syllable 'way' is on the 5th of that chord, or 3 draw whole-step bend.

The chug thing on 123 draw 1234 blow doesn't fit the chord structure of the song at that point.

I hope you appreciate my candour.

If you want, I'll put my harp where my mouth is and work up a response on YT in the next few days.

Cheers,

Mick

Thanks for the feedback Mick, a video response would be great. I'd love hear other people's take on the song as its one of my favorite.

Thanks again.
