I really want to try this kind of set-up. I recently got a Behringer VT911 tube overdrive pedal to act as a pre-amp, but I still have to plug it into my 5W amp.
What do think of the brightness switch on the EH 44 Magnum? Does it do anything worthwhile?
I found that with the switch set on bright it leads too easily to feedback, and sounds too bright. Even with the switch on normal I sometimes use an EQ pedal to shape tone or sometimes to allow the use of delay. I do not have an anti-feedback pedal. Most often when I use it I am in a big enough room to turn up to 2 O'clock and get some crunch. ----------
Doug - I agree with your take on the Bright switch. It is useless for blues harp: just leave it on Normal and the 44 Mag still has a lot of treble. It takes a touch of EQ to get it into a more pleasing range.
In this video I left the pedal on the same volume level in both parts of the demo, so that we could hear the difference the effects made in the tone. With the Kinder AFB pedal I could crank it way up but I didn't want to annoy my neighbors too much. I'll try to get video of this rig at a blues jam and post that later.
