I am replacing a 2 prong to a 3 prong and noticed that 1 lead goes directly to the switch(tone control) and the other lead goes though the fuse to the tranny. The death cap is connected on the out of the fuse holder to the chassis as seen in the picture.
I understand the new connection, the black should go to the fuse and then fuse to switch and white directly to tranny.
Question, with the 3 prong wired, should I remove the death cap and not use it?

Curious- What was the purpose of the death cap?

My understanding is the death cap helped to shunt any stray low AC voltage from the tranny to ground so it did not get injected into the circuit which could cause humming. If the death cap shorts the chassis will carry all the AC voltage which is not a good thing. I suppose with a 3 prong that is not an issue anymore.
