Does anyone know anything about this movie? The trailer for it on their website is dated 2008. Has it gone down the tubes? Will it ever be finished and released? It looks like it was gonna be a great film, with every one imaginable in it. What's up?

Yeh. I've had a coupla email communications with them also, and also with no information about seeing the film.
They did express some interest about one or two venues that I mentioned to them for showing it in Santa Fe, NM, but nothing more. And that was many months ago now.

They've shown a 45 minute condensed version in Texas many times. It's well done and I am friends with both guys and they are good people who love harp and film. One of them experienced a recent bout with cancer that probably slowed down their progress. I think he is doing better, but I am not certain.

I believe they show the 45 minute version at festival hoping to entice a money guy to help release the bigger version. Personally, I would just show the bigger version.

They made an artistic choice. The film is about the history, what harp can do and many, many players. Most documentaries take a theme and then follow a story arc of 1 to a few people's lives who are heavily connected to the theme. This doesn't do that. It is still an excellent film that laypeople will enjoy.

In any case, I fully support them and will help them in any way I can.

Hey Michael, would it be appropriate, since you are friends with these fellows, to try to get more information from them? I'd really love to see this film, and I'm sure I'm not alone in that.

It's a shame how many good independent films never make it to final cut due to budget limitations. This is most likely the case with this film unfortunately.

Wonder who the "richest" harmonica player or lover of the harmonica is in the world. Maybe we could contact them and lobby for some help?

Just watched the trailer on YouTube. Looks like a great movie if your a harp player or have an interest in the instrument. However, I can easily see why it's most likely never going to make it to final cut and distribution- too small of an audience to stem any real interest. Let's face it, it's no academy award contender

Wonder if Bill Clinton would get involved for this cause - did'nt he recieve a Golden "Filisko" harmonica as a present? He probably knows Bill Gates too :) also Hohner could donate a dollar towards the movie for every CrossOver harmonica they sell...

"Richest Harmonica Player"- Might be Steven Tyler if Aerosmith ticket prices are anything to go by. He should pony up to compensate for all the bad harmonica he's played over the years.

I'll second Bruce Willis. Not aware of many "star" harp players. Of the ones I'm aware of,Bruce is the best player IMHO.

Jimi Lee seemed to have a pretty big role in the film. He wrote the theme song. Anyone here might know him personally?

OK Saw Jimi Lee do the tune in Memphis a few years ago and just assumed he wrote it. Thanks!

The tune you heard Jimi Lee do was probably the one Jimi Lee wrote. The way I understand it, the producers asked several harmonica players, Madcat and Jimi among them, to write and submit songs with that name. I think one was to be picked to be the theme song but I don't know if one was ever picked.?

Just watched the trailer. Yes,that's a totally different song. I know Jimi Lee did a song titled "Pocket Full Of Soul" and just assumed that was it. Hope it makes it into the movie-it was a great song. A harp anthem,if you will.

Maybe it's presumptuous (?), but I'm just wondering, if the problem with getting the film finished/distributed/released is "just" a money problem, and not some constellation of other factors (health, desire, will, etc.), would it be appropriate/ok/acceptable, really, to try to think of ways to get the dough, ie., people who would likely have both the interest and the money, to make that happen?

Maybe the producers have exhausted all these possibilities already, but my guess is that that's probably not the case, just 'cuz it hasn't been even put into dvd format for private purchase, which, presumably, would require a lot less up front money (?)

So, anyone game to try to pursue this with some degree of seriousness? (No, I'm not). I would love to see the full length version.

Wish they would just make it available for download for a price. I'd pay movie ticket prices for it in a heart beat.It might take a while to recoup the money they have in it but they're not making ANY money letting it sit there.
