Even though that starts as an ad for quilter amp, it's got some interesting and inspirational words packed in to the second 3 minutes. I'm glad I listened. Love his voice. Cheers ----------
Just finished trying to steal some J. Harman licks off of Do Not Disturb and turned on MBH and here you are talking about him.
He has quite an ear, and the talent for subtle, and potent effect. That slow stuff with the little touches and the monster tone on a song like "Swamp Night", or "I've Got News" is required listening. I can't get enough of the harp solos on that CD.
At his best he has the soulful poise and sense of timing reminiscent of Ray Charles when Ray was recording for Atlantic. How do you ever learn to use a harp, amp, mic, combination to sound that good?
Almost makes me want to go to my neighborhood music store, and give one a whirl.... instead I'll play his Black and White CD's, "Too Right To Run", and try learn it. He's bad...so bad!
...."Far as I'm concerned".
He's one of the greatest, in my book.
Far as I'm concerned...

Why is it that we all just can't get along?<

Harman has been one of my all-time favorites for a long time. Great vocals, great harp tone, and most of all, one of the greatest songwriters in the genre. I saw him play a club in Houston years back and we went early to grab a bite to eat in their restaurant. Once we heard him doing his sound check, we left our meal to witness him put the sound man through his paces. He was extremely picky about just how his two Fender Vibroverbs (with 15" speakers) needed to be EQ'd through the pa. We listened to him play close to 30 minutes and he remarked, "I may just have to charge you guys extra for this part of the show." ---------- Ricky B http://www.bushdogblues.blogspot.com RIVER BOTTOM BLUES--crime novel for blues fans available at Amazon/B&N and my blog THE DEVIL'S BLUES--coming Fall of 2012
