I have just won the auction on our local version of E bay.
$1200 Nz (about 750$ US)Pickup is on Sunday.
I know you guys in the States will be going "Whaaat" but that is what you pay down here.EG Theres a Bassman RI up at the moment hitting 2 grand.
Anyways i've spent a bit of time reading through the Forum archives and though the amp has its detractors mostly the feedback was reasonably positive, albeit the amp needs a bit of tinkering to make it Harp friendly.
It'd blow my budget to get the complicated stuff done but i can change a Pre amp valve .I have a electro harmonix 6072A/12AY7 already :
I have a L/W harp break and a L/W Octave pedal, anyone tried using a pedal to get more breakup at lower volumes.?I know that Frosty for example does it through his Bassman so hopefully with the lowwer gain valve and a pedal the Deville will act the same?
Any thoughts?

PS: I was really looking for a Princeton Reverb RI ,one has never come up for auction in the last 3months and new they are 2400$ !(NZ)

Here is a video of Nic Clark playing through a stock Fender Deville 410.

I tried one of these amps and could not get good tone, but then I am not Nic Clark...

I think Nic was 16 in that video. It was a gig both our bands did at at club in Laramie WY with an outdoor stage. The guitarist was probably 17 at the time.

Now their band is breaking up. The guitarist (Taylor Scott) will be touring with Grady Champion. Nic will keep busy with Bad Brad's band for now. They may be headed to Memphis for the IBC, will find out this weekend.

When the original tweed BDV's came out at the same time the first Bassman RI's came out in 1991, I thought they sounded more like a real Bassman than the BAssman RI's did.

Check out Rick Davis' thread on 12AT7 tubes. There is probably a better choice which will give you results you like even better.
All the best on your quest!
