The 6th WV State Harmonica Championship and the 1st Harmonica Quadrathlon was held Saturday August 25th in Huntington, WV. The winners of the 6th WV State Harmonica Championship were:
3rd place John Van Kirk from Huntington, WV
2nd place Allan Hatten from Huntington, WV
1st place Charlie Barath from Monaca, Pa.
The winner of the 1st Harmonica Quadrathlon was:
Charlie Barath from Monaca, Pa. , winning the title of Grand Champion.
Charlie won a custom harmonica from David Payne. All winners took home Seydel harmonica prizes from Rupert Oysler. We thank David and Rupert for their support of the championship. We also thank everyone that took part of the event and made it a success. Last, we want to recognize Phil Wiggins and Geneva Red that were the judges and held harmonica workshops.

Sounds like a great time Jim...I grew up near Monaca, I know Charlie form the blues scene...I put up some his playing on this site a month or so ago. He is a fine gentlemen and harpateer, I'm not surprised he took the gold :)

Frank- I was there. Charlie was impressive!
I'd like to thank Jim and the Huntington Harmonica Club for the great hospitality they extended to me. It was great meeting and hanging with y'all.

You sure do get around Tuckster - I'll catch up to you one of these days at a show...I'm a homebody at heart at this stage of my life, but I get out know and then...What a title Charlie has "GRAND CHAMPION" I'm sure he'll light heartedly wear that crown, he is humble feller :)
