I have a Gorilla TC35 practice amp that I bought back in 1987 to woodshed guitar on. I loaned to to a friend back in 1991 and forgot about it. He finally returned it 18 years later and I stuck it under my bed. I pulled out out the other day and decided to find out what the harp sounded like through it.

I turned the treble and the middle all the way down and the bass and the "tube crunch" all the way up and was really surprised at how good it sounded.

I haven't taken it out into the "real world" yet, just in a small room inside, but I think I might have something here.

Of course this is a solid state amp, no real tubes involved, but it is made by the same company that makes the Pignose so who knows?

Have a look on the harmony central website for reviews on these amps. Some of them are hilarious. Apparently they are one of the crappiest amps in the world for guitar according to 90% of reviewers. I can't say myself I've never heard one. However the vibe I seem to get regarding harmonica amps is if it's shit for guitar then theres a chance its good for harps. May be true vice versa too. One of my amps is a little marshall practice amp that sounds ok for guitar but if you play harp through it it's awful (my playing doesn't help).
Reviewers claim gorillas are absolutely indestructable and I would believe it hearing how some guitarists have tried to destroy them. Even leaving them out in the rain doesn't kill them apparently (much to one guys disappointment). If you're onto a winner then there'll be a lot of cheap (and according to some haters) free ones for us out there to snatch up and use as harmonica amps rather than doorstops.

You are on to something mr sog. I owned a Gorilla 20 reverb for a while. I picked it up at an ecocenter for around $10. It did not work due to a loose wire or somrthing. As it turned out I discovered it was a decent amp for harp. They have pretty nice harp friendly speakers and reverb enough. I no longer have it, but for a throw in the trunk amp, you cannot go wrong. And the thing about a bad guitar amp being good for harp, Because harps and guitars seek diferent qualities, it is not uncommon for a "bad" guitar amp to be just what the Dr. ordered for harmonica.
