A couple of weeks ago, Mark Hummel hosted a local jam at the Club Fox in Redwood City, CA. I dropped in to shoot some photos and maybe play a couple of tunes. I got the photos. I also ended up getting schooled twice in one night.

First time up, Aki Kumar takes me to school.

In the next video, I get taken to school by Mark Hummel, Aki Kumar and Dave Earl.

One more time... This time, it's RJ Mischo and Aki Kumar. Cleary, I need to dress better when I go out. You never know when stuff will show up on youtube.

Thanks, I always get a lot out of watching these sessions. The trading highlights tone and creativity contrasts -especially when players use the same gear.
Hummels solo to close his clip really jumped. I assume that was his crew backing him up. Yes?

Thanks for posting these - great to hear how different players approach the same groove.

@Littoral - Mark Hummel has three or four different lineups. The lineup that evening was Derrick Martin (drums), Sid Morris (piano) and RW Grigsby (bass). He didn't bring a guitarist, but Kid Andersen showed up.

@JD - Thanks for the kind words.

JT Ross, The Harmonica Boss, is a fine harp player and singer. He plays a ton of chromatic in the style of William Clarke and Rod Piazza. He's bad ass. He was kind enough to let me sit in on a couple of tunes that night. He came through the area several years ago and was backed by the Terry Hanck Band.
