Recently started a project playing harp with an acoustic Delta blues style guitarist. I can handle the gig with the knowledge in my head from others of the ilk I've played with but I want to get deeper into it with this guy. Suffice to say he's really good. I can hang with him now, or I wouldn't have got the gig, but I want to raise my game. I'm very familar of course with Terry and Mcghee but I'm having trouble finding others, especially the real deal originators. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. - LSC
Check out anything you can get from Phil Wiggins--it was Cephas and Wiggins until John Cephas passed away. Technically, Wiggins and Terry would probably be considered Piedmont blues, rather than Delta--but, what the hell--the similarities are legion... ----------
Carlos del Junco and a guy named Thom Roberts made a traditional Delta blues CD some 15 years ago. (Carlos plying isn´t really "trad", but I´d say to a great extent an improvment of the tradition.) Good stuff and plenty to learn from it.
Also check TAXI BLUES vids ( it's our duo ) on you tube and on : www.countrybluesmotion.com ERIC GLOAGUEN is a very good picking player ( he is a great banjo player too ) and me...i do what i can .
Peter Mad Cat Ruth use to play with Sharie Cane. I don't know for sure if they recorded together, but I assume they did. They played many gigs together for a few years. They were good live!
