My sista sittin in with Kevin Coleman and The Flat Five, every Wednesday. Blues Wednesday, at OnStage Drinks and Grinds, in Kapahulu. Just 2 long blocks from the famous beach at Waikiki. We do it for tips. An we do multi band shows there every couple months.
Also,
we were fortunate to meet Portland blues vet, Dallas Breed.
He joined us that evening on bass.
The Les Paul and Strat players, local Hawaii rocker blues vets Gary "bluesman" Mansho, and Stan "The Man" Mishino, are nothing short of amazing.
My sis has got some pipes. And ofcourse, yours truly on harp. I was in deep water, MAN! I just play what pops in to my head.
The story behind this is funny. A nice lady picked up my flip camera, unsolicited...and proceeded to do exactly what I wanted, but could never could do. It's amazing she did so well. I have been wishing for someone to do it...for me. I'm always the one to film others. But can't trust it will get done well enough to use for promo clips. Dig? so she definitely was an Angel...

Ain't it nice to play with great players? Good work all around.

You guys on Oahu are lucky. A couple of good guitarists and friends of mines have moved there recently.

I've had the opportunity to play a bit with Dallas when he lived in the San Francisco Bay Area. Dallas is a good guitarist and singer. He played with RJ Mischo a bit when he was living in Arkansas.

East Bay Wes has also recently moved there from New York City. He has studied Jimmy Roger, Robert Jr and many others. He knows how to back a harp player. Wes has played with some fantastic players, also.

Thanks Rubes, Harpman, and those who enjoy. It was fun as shit. Especially with my sista Lori. I am totally stoked to have James Ganeko on board. He's a monster blues shuffle, anykine, drummers drummer...understated yet very dynamic and (deeep)in the pocket...(bloozefish)
The high end tongue flutters..I got mostly from the late great Gary Primich. Check out his Triple Fool. Great example. He's was soooo good. RIP.
Here's one that wasn't as tight..for me. I was groping for lines to make it sound fresh...I did alright. Seeing replayed back, give s agood exercise in giving me new idea's to do it better next time, too.
Remembering lyric lines, too.
That is a low F...first time I used it.
There is definitely a place for it.
Example; having both regular, and low F, during the same solo.
might spice it up....eh? switching harps midway...then back again...again again again...wow! Wear that puppy out!
